.settling

{a note from kate}
settling. what a word. i sort of expected to settle right away, you know, give or take a couple of months... i've been here for 8 months now, and there's still so much 'settling' happening! i'm much more familiar with my surroundings here in england now, and how to live in them, which makes a lot of the immediate stresses that bind me up and make me feel powerless a much less interfering and constant challenge. tim and i are feeling much more at home in our house, as well. it's taking a shape that really fits our patterns and the rhythms and desires of our souls for space and comfort. we're both feeling a lot free-er about life generally as well, the more things become familiar to us, and that's a relief! there's a lot more room for our gifts and beloved hobbies to find their home here and so we're playing music, reading (we've made a library of all our books together), writing, drawing here and there, doing martial arts and yoga, and having the room to contemplate the way we're used to a bit as well. learning to pray together is so good! there is a lot to enjoy in life right now. ooo! and i have (so far) successfully raised a beautiful red rose from a cutting! it's still quite small and vulnerable, and hasn't got anything but leaves, but it appears to be thriving and healthy, and i'm very proud! ;) hehehe. it's getting cold though, and i have to figure out whether to accustom it to indoors for winter or just let it brave the elements... tim says hello!
lots of love,
kate and tim

.a red door

hello everyone! we are now happily ensconced in our new home, complete with visa-bearing me, and all kinds of lovely gifts and cards from people we love. thanks to all of you who sent us pictures and notes! *grin* we love them (and now finally have the time to begin thinking about this scrapbook ;)

it's been a somewhat insane time what with all the adjustments, but i promise you -- thank you notes are in progress ;) you were all so beautiful and warmly supportive of us, and we have so much to say to each of you... sorry it's taking such a while. thank you for your presence in our lives and at the wedding.

i've been told there were a lot of people who were really confused about how to get us gifts overseas or really how to get us anything at all in the best way. sorry we weren't clear enough! it's a funny thing to publicize registries and all... it feels strange. feel free to email us with individual questions, or see the entry below on our registries at debenhams and vivaterra. please don't feel you must get us anything at all, but if you've been wanting to but unable to find the information it's here. the easiest thing might be to add money to our debenhams card or get us a gift card to a nifty store in london, but whatever is sent overseas to us won't be charged duty if it is under 35 uk pounds (~about 60-65 dollars) in value.

our uk address is available for the asking -- just email timmy.gee@hotmail.co.uk --- and let us know if you've any other questions.
hm, that felt awkward!

i hope you are all well! keep in touch.
always,
tim and kate

ps. the pic is our den/reading room-- supercool fireplace! we'll get a picture of the both of us together on here soon.
pps. news of english service forthcoming... i don't know when.
